Widely recognised as a trailblazing computer scientist and the "Godmother of AI," Dr. Fei-Fei Li has profoundly shaped the modern landscape of artificial intelligence through her pioneering work in computer vision and her advocacy for human-centred technology.
As a Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University and the co-director of the Stanford Human-Centred AI Institute (HAI), Dr. Li revolutionised the field in 2009 by launching ImageNet. This massive, curated database of over 14 million labelled images provided the critical data scale required to train modern deep learning algorithms, effectively catalysing the current global AI explosion. Born in Beijing and migrating to the United States as a teenager, she earned her undergraduate degree in physics from Princeton University before completing her PhD in electrical engineering at Caltech.
Beyond her foundational technical achievements, Dr. Li is a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and ethics in technology, co-founding the national non-profit AI4ALL to open paths in the field for underrepresented youth.
